AI
What if my staff uses the AI inappropriately

When we first provided AI as a feature, the question was raised by a couple customers very early "But what if my staff uses the AI for recipes for cooking chicken or other personal stuff" (yes that was the literal question from one.)

The concern being, that it would 'waste' what the company was paying for AI and may make it necessary to buy more AI credits.

There are several ways I'd like to address this.

First, what is the cost of a chicken recipe? Typically in 2025 less than 1 cent if you buy everything from us. If when we asked several follow-up/detailed questions, the total cost still ended up less than 8 cents.

What is the cost a pen taken home by accident? (Or on purpose). Typically more than 10 cents PLUS the cost of ordering more PLUS the cost of receiving them PLUS the cost of stocking them PLUS the cost of distributing them. For most companies, likely 50 cents. Or about 25 typical personal uses of AI.

What is the cost of a person going to another browser tab, calling up your 'free' (or perhaps lower cost?) AI then switching back. If we assume 5 seconds lost, if you only pay the average STARTING wage in the USA ($59,384 as of 2025) to your technicians, and they work 8 hours a day, you are paying 0.8 cents/second. So 5 seconds is 4 cents. And I think 5 seconds to go and come back is generous. So … if they have access to AI anywhere else, it costs MORE to prevent them

So. How do you keep users from stealing pens? That would be a reasonable start. If you still really care, serious offenders can have the feature turned off so they can't use it.

On the other hand, the AIs we use try to restrict pornographic and other 'non-business potentially illegal' uses. It would be up to you if you are using our generic AI that ties to your AI systems to make sure you aren't using ones that don't at least try to block this type of use.
