MCe Timers
Tips and Tricks and General use

Overview

MCe comes with a powerful set of timer tools, designed to be ideal for CMMS/EAS usage.

You can set timers for yourself on a WO then turn it into a cost, if you are a manager, you can set timers for other users – people on your 'team'. You can set generic timers.

There are extra features designed to make them as quick and easy as possible for WO's.

Types of Timers:

YOUR main work timer.

With one click on the 'Quick Timer' button you can start a timer. This button is available from the right hand menus in the system. If you are on a WO when you start it, it will automatically be attached to that WO. If you aren't, then when you complete the timer (to create a labor cost) then if you are on a WO, it will automatically be attached to that WO for you. You can only have one of these timers, we don't try to make lawyer billing (recording time on multiple projects simultaneously) possible. Note though, if someone has managerial rights, then it is possible that the manager and you will both create a timer for you. As sync's occur, we will show you this so you can decide how to resolve it.

Timers you create for people on your team

If you have managerial level access/features, you can create timers for others on your team. Again, if you are on a WO when you created it, it will be created for that WO and, if you aren't (perhaps it hasn't been made available to you yet), when you complete the timer (to create the labor costs) then if you are on a WO, it will automatically be attached to that WO for you. You can only create one of these per person at a time.

Generic timers

If you create procedures, or just want to know how long something takes to do, you create a generic timer. This is not attached to a WO (though it can be later), and if not attached to a WO, these stick around until you are done with them, this lets you keep some (as many as you want) for reference.

Special features

Tips and Tricks:

If you are in an area where you can't reasonably sync, and someone creates a WO for you and then informs you by phone or text or email that you need to work on this right away, you can set a timer, then, after you sync, you can attach the timer to the work order.

If you are a manager, create all the timers for your team when your team starts work, and close them all off at the end.

Building a Procedure, if you have a WO that was 'build a procedure' you can set your personal timer on that WO to record your work. But then you can set one or more generic timers to see how long certain jobs take to do so you can record good estimates in the Procedure for how long it should take others to do a WO based on your procedure.
