The real answer: Yes

Technically the answer is: No. But don't do this.

In MC, to determine an asset's location, you go back to the root and read the location from the Location type assets until you reach the 1st asset that is not a location. This means that if your root asset is not of type Location - then no assets in your tree have locations.
