MCe What're those little icons?
Am I connected?

There are 4 icons up in the top, very similar in concept with the previous versions.

Each is different by color AND slightly by shape. This is so that they can be very easily identified by people with so called 'normal' color sight, and are distinct for people with less color acuity (color blind as it is often called.)

If there is an ! on top of any of these, it means there is an upgrade being downloaded and/or ready to install. If you click on this icon and you have an internet connection, it will check for upgrades.

  1. Live Connection IconA connection symbol with a dot in the middle and 2 'waves' on either side means we had a live connection to your server the last time we attempted (a few seconds ago typically).
  2. Recent Connection IconA yellow connection option with 2 waves verticle indicates 'signal' means we 'recently' had a connection, but the last time we tried talking to the server there was no response. Since we were recently connected it is reasonable to assume that it might come back soon, we'll keep trying aggressively.
  3. Connection Error IconA red computer with x means we have not recently been able to make a connection. We keep trying every minute or so to connect. Cell phones, when trying to connect try first a low power attempt to connect, then more and more power under the assumption that the tower is further away. When you have a close by connection that is solid, it takes very little power to keep, but when there hasn't been a connection for a while it means that every attempt to talk to the server means that we will be drawing a lot of power. The downside is when you do get to a signal, it may be 2 minutes before we try to reconnect.
  4. User Disconnected IconA gray with a red circle and white bar a means YOU choose to disconnect, probably to save on your data charges or conserve battery – if you are in a remote location and know it will be a while before you have a connection, this stops us from ever attempting to reach the server. You can attain the same objective by turning 'airplane mode' on in your device, that way our requests to reach the server will be rejected without the phone using a lot of power to try to get a signal, but there may be other issues that benefit from directly turning it off in our software.

On the main menu there are 2 choices:

  1. To disconnect (this will result the 4th icon above, the blue one with a red x)
  2. To connect. This will cause the device to start trying, first with low power and then progressively more and more power to connect. The amount of power and how quickly this happens is entirely up to your device, we have no control over it. So assume it can take up to 2 minutes to regain a connection.
