Email from automated reports are duplicating

  • email system, since 1971 is not designed for reliable delivery.  It is mostly a 'send and trust it went'
  • With Accruent MC you will get "at most" 1 send per destination.  So "duplication" is caused by having
    • multiple copies of a database (and thus the email system sending each report 1 time,)
    • or duplicated reports,
    • or multiple entries of the "same" email address.
    • Multiple entry of the same email address
    • Sending to an email address that redirects to others (so you get 2 - one directly, one indirectly)
    • Older report you haven't been using, turn on the schedule without changing where it should start from - you will get a whole bunch for a period of time. Date & how often.
  • The MCe reliability server will try to resend if the send fails.
    • It doesn't add reliable DELIVERY to Accruent's emails - or any emails
    • But it does add reliable SENDING to Accruent's emails (and lets you send by other methods that may be more reliable such as alternative ports, TLS)

Other possible cause;

  • This could also be because of failed emails from one automated report that was resent multiple times and then became successful, which is why the users or recipients are receiving duplicate emails.
