Logs Location
The log files in the default install directory are found in C:/Maintenance Connection/MCe/<version>/log so for example C:/Maintenance Connection/MCe/<version>12.1.11/log
But it is a good idea to go through IIS to get the exact location of the MC installation directory.
Types of log file:
The logs are named using the application pool in IIS that they are associated with.
- “MCe” log files
- “LoginHub” log files
- “MCeDotnetTools”
- There is a log directory associated with the service for service specific logs

Log Lifetime
Log files are rolling with 5 days of history and a maximum size so there may be multiple files per day, but you can't go back weeks to find old logs.
Coordinate between the person getting the log and the person experiencing the problem
When looking for log files that usually means you are experiencing a problem. (Our developers go in for other reasons to help work on design).
There can be thousands of entries a minute, indeed on powerful systems, thousands of entries a second.
Therefore, when looking in a log file you would coordinate between the person experiencing the error and the person getting the log file. The person getting the log file would prepare to copy it, the person would cause the problem, then the person getting the log file would immediately copy it so the useful information is near the end of the log file.
